John Ralph Poole, 71, of 1490 Goldmine Road, died Thursday, October 22, 2009, at his home. Born June 14, 1938, in Spartanburg County, SC, he was the son of the late Sterling Arthur Poole, Sr. and Ina McGraw Poole. He was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church, Drayton Masonic Lodge # 360, a Shriner, and a U.S. Navy Veteran. Survivors include his wife of thirty-seven years, Gladys Williams Poole; a step-daughter, Elizabeth Ann of Bates City, KS; two step-sons, Phil Pruitt of Liberty, SC, and Eddie Pruitt of Pauline; three brothers, Arthur Poole and wife Joyce, David Poole, and Roger Poole and wife Mary Jane, all of Spartanburg; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two loving canines, Hooker and Brandi. He was predeceased by a sister, Betty Louise Poole; and two brothers, Charles and Lloyd Poole. Cryptside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 25, 2009, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum conducted by the Rev. Larry Holland. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605; or to a charity of one's choice. The family is at their respective homes.
