John Paslo, 94, of Spartanburg, SC died Monday, February 1, 2021 at his home. He was born March 17, 1926 in Philadelphia, PA. On January 24, 1953 he married the love of his life Joan Maksym and together they raised eight children and shared many happy times. John was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy and his service steered him to many foreign lands including Africa. His adventures during his service in the Navy were key topics in conversations with John. His wife, children and grandchildren will always have fond memories of gazing into his beautiful blue eyes listening to a great storyteller. His words spoke of life and what it took to be a successful Navy novice, devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. His stories were life lessons filled with humor, knowledge, and at times grief. John's one true passion in life was his marriage to his Joan. Their love story began when they were both young and naïve but their love, respect and commitment to each other was the greatest life achievement of all. John loved to read (military stories) take walks, travel, and celebrate everyday with good food, drink and laughs with family and friends. He never met a stranger and always looked for the good in people. John was a man of faith and was a very active member of the Thompson Memorial Church in New Hope, PA before moving to South Carolina. He will be greatly missed by everyone that knew and loved him. His beloved daughter declares it best. "Many Treasured Memories of You Dad".
