John Orberg

John Wayne Orberg, 80, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Upstate Community Hospice House. Born September 22, 1942 in Cleveland, Ohio, he was reared in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. His parents were the late Robert and Dorothy Orberg.

A US Navy veteran, Mr. Orberg was retired as a retail salesman and was a professional fisherman. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Macclenny, Florida for 44 years and a life member of Bass Masters.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Shirley Orberg of the home; their sons, Roger W. Orberg (Susan) of Boiling Springs, John W. Orberg II (Lisa) of Jacksonville, FL, and Robert Neil Orberg of Boiling Springs, SC; grandchildren, Jordan Orberg (L’Porshia), Sauvé Lunsford (Adam), Shannon Isaacson, Trey Orberg (Derica), Tyler Orberg, Tanner Orberg, Taylor Orberg; great grandchildren, Rylan Orberg, Jackson Orberg, Bowen Orberg, Avery Lunsford, Sophie-Mills Lunsford, Ryder Orberg, Nash Orberg, Colt Orberg; his sisters, Susan Laber (Richard) of Cope, SC and Jan Orberg (Brett Dahl) of Oak Harbor, WA; and his special dog, Brandi. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Bobby Orberg and Gary Orberg.

Visitation will be 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 19, 2022 at Floyd’s Boiling Springs, 4161 Highway 9 North, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. at the chapel, conducted by The Rev. Zack Williams. Burial will follow in Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens, 4081 Highway 9 North, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
