John Newman

John Allen Newman, 61, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, November 30, 2017, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born August 19, 1956, in Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late John E. and Carolyn Taylor Newman. Mr. Newman enjoyed golf and fishing. He served with Arcadia Fire & Rescue as well as Una Fire Department for 25 years and retired from Martex Fibers after 11 years of service as an electrician. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his brother, Kenneth Ray Newman (Deborah) of Reidville, SC; three nephews; and fiancé, Bernice Thompson of Spartanburg, SC. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday, December 3, 2017, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel, 235 N. Church St., Spartanburg, SC 29306. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday, December 4, 2017, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel, by Lt. Howard Tate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, 1955 Cannons Campground Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
