John Link, Sr.

John Wesley Link, Sr., 96, of Spartanburg, SC, husband of the late Guynema Hill Link, died Monday, January 22, 2018, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. The last surviving member of his immediate family, John was born December 31, 1921, in Dover, TN to the late Simon Peter "S.P." and Gertrude Savannah Taylor Link. A U. S. Army veteran of World War II and U. S. Air Force Reserves, Mr. Link was a member of First Baptist Church Spartanburg where he was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. He retired from Southern Bell Telephone, was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, and a commissioner of Whitney Fire Department for 18 years. Survivors include his sons, Steven Anthony Link and wife Nancy of Spartanburg, SC and Michael David Link and wife Sandra of Chesnee, SC; daughter-in-law, Lettie Link of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Kristina Keith (Kim) of Spartanburg, SC, Tamara Blocker (Ned) of Beaufort, SC, Steven Link, Jr. (Tracy) of Spartanburg, SC, Mark Link (Monica) of Spartanburg, SC, Nicholas Link of Charlotte, NC, Misty Lim (Bo) of Spartanburg, SC, and Brittany Summers (Perrie) of Greenville, SC; and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a son, John Wesley Link, Jr.; great-grandson, Christopher Nottingham Keith; and siblings, Vergie Page, Floree Link, Betty Link Neely, Loma Link Wallace, Charlene Link Williams, Omega Link Taylor, Edison Link, and Erskin Link. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 25, 2018, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by The Rev. Sal Barone and The Rev. Robert C. Morgan. Entombment, with military rites by American Legion Post #28, will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
