John Lancaster Iii

John Lee "Buddy" Lancaster III, 67, of Roebuck, SC, died Monday, June 23, 2014, at his home. Born February 1, 1947, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late John Lee Lancaster Jr. and Dorothy Bulman Lancaster. A U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Mr. Lancaster was a member of North Spartanburg First Baptist Church. He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, camping, and woodworking. He also loved playing the steel guitar and attending steel guitar conventions. He was retired from Marlow Trucking Company and formerly employed with the Spartanburg Department of Social Services, the Spartanburg County Sheriff Department, and Securitas Security Services. Surviving is his wife, Sandra Moore Lancaster; daughter, Crystal L. Easler (Brian) of Boiling Springs, SC; grandchildren, Marissa Correll and Peyton Easler; step-grandchildren, J. Chasen Easler and Skylyn Easler; and his canine friend, "Lance"; brother, Judson E. Lancaster of Woodruff, SC; sisters, Rebecca Carroll of Moore, SC, Geraldine Fraker of Lakeland, FL, Sandra Whittington of Moore, SC, and Luvenia Sisson of Sebastian, FL. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a brother, Huey Lancaster; and sister, Doris Lancaster Koon. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM Friday, June 27, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel by the Rev. Al Phillips. Burial with military rites by American Legion Post #28 will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303; or Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
