John Edwards

John James Edwards, 79, of Spartanburg, SC died Monday, November 29, 2010, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital. Born December 29, 1930, in Canton, Ohio, he was a son of the late John Henry and Ina Rattray Edwards. He was a retired salesman for Hordis Brothers Glass Inc. in Atlanta, GA, a graduate of Ohio State University and was a member of Central Church of Christ in Spartanburg, SC. A Scottish Rite Mason, Mr. Edwards was a Life Member of Walden Masonic Lodge #274 and was a member of Omar Shrine Temple in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Geraldine "Gerry" Marchand Edwards; his son, Dennis Edwards and wife, Julie of Denver, NC; his two daughters, Cindy Dunn and husband, Larry of Cocoa Beach, FL and Kathy Ferrell and husband, Bill of Greer, SC; his grandchildren, Shannon Quade and husband, Tom of Akron, OH, Matt Ferrell and wife, Tammy of Simpsonville, SC, Laura Niday and husband, Kyle of Oakland, CA, John Edwards and wife, Kate of Keller, TX, Kacey Howard and husband, Chris of Plainfield, CT, and Jonathan Dunn, serving in the U. S. Air Force; his great-granddaughter, Emma Edwards; and his step-great-grandchildren, Ashton, Lauren and Hannah Schoening. Funeral service honoring the life of Mr. Edwards will be held 4:00 p.m. Thursday, December 2, 2010, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, conducted by Mr. Ernie Thigpen. Entombment, with Masonic Rites, will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum. The family will receive friends following the committal service at the Heritage Chapel Mausoleum. The Elders of Central Church of Christ will serve as pallbearers for Mr. Edwards. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Southeastern Children's Home, P. O.
