John Hanke, Jr.

John Elmer Hanke, Jr., 82, of Spartanburg, SC died Friday, January 15, 2016 at Richard Campbell V.A. Nursing Home. Born October 26, 1933 in Minneapolis, MN, he was the son of the late John Elmer Hanke, Sr. and Lou Noble Hanke and he was the widower of Sharon Gayle Hanke. Mr. Hanke was a U.S. Army veteran. He was employed by the Hiring Authority Temporary Agency and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Surviving are his sons, Chris Hanke of Spartanburg, SC; Michael Hanke (Leigh) of Spartanburg, SC; daughter, Suzanne Johnson (Buddy Lee) of Waterloo, SC; grandsons, Jamie Johnson of Anderson, SC; Anderson Hanke of Spartanburg, SC; and granddaughter, Abigail Hanke of Spartanburg, SC; and sister, Mary Lou Hanke of Medford, OR. Memorials may be made to Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home, 4605 Belton Hwy, Anderson, SC 29621. A private graveside service will be held.
