John Hall Jr.

John H. Hall Jr., 64, of Spartanburg, SC, died Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born August 20, 1953, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late John Herman Hall Sr. and Vera Joyce Owens Hall. A graduate of Dorman High School, Spartanburg Methodist College, and attendee of Wofford College, Mr. Hall was the Fire Chief at Hilltop Fire District for 28 years and fireman for 45 years and retired police officer with the City of Spartanburg after more than 26 years of service. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, the SC Fireman's Association, SC Law Enforcement Officers Association, Spartanburg County Fire Advisory Committee, and Spartanburg County Fire Chief's Association. He was also an Eagle Scout and played football at Dorman High School. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Wilma Fincher Hall; children, Brad Hall (Emily) of Spartanburg, SC, Leigh Anne Weaver of Spartanburg, SC, Susan Arledge (Scott) of Greenville, SC, and Jennifer Mims (Justin) of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Jackson Hall, Madeline Hall, Amanda McMurry, Kristen Weaver, Brooke Weaver, Austin Arledge, Jacob, Cadin, and Corbin Abernathy; and great-granddaughter, Casey Marie Larke. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a grandson, Colin Michael Arledge. Visitation will be 12:00 noon-2:15 PM Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Allen Elder and the Rev. Antonio Zayas. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
