John Freeman

John Grady Freeman, 78, died Saturday, March 19, 2011, at his home. Born February 20, 1933, in White County, GA, he was a son of the late Albert Montgomery and Amanda Caroline Parker Freeman. He was owner of Freeman Metals, Inc., a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, and of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Ruth Hadden Freeman; two sons, John A. Freeman and wife Kay, and Don L. Freeman and wife Teresa; a daughter, Elizabeth Freeman Weeks and husband Anthony; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a stepdaughter, Janice Wright and husband Tommy; two stepsons, Larry Hadden and wife Ann, and Allen Hadden; one brother, Grover Freeman and wife Martha Ann; and one sister, Grace Martin. Grady was predeceased by his first wife, Lila Mae Petty Freeman, and a brother, George Freeman. Visitation will be 11:00-12:45 PM Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at Westgate Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM at the church, conducted by the Rev. Bill Bethea and the Rev. Dr. David Duncan. Burial will be in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family is at the home.
