John Francis

John Edmond Francis, 74, of Inman, SC, died Thursday, October 17, 2013, at Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills-Landrum. Born December 31, 1938, in Weymouth, MA, he was the son of the late Harold West and Mary Elizabeth Moulton Francis. A U. S. Army veteran, Mr. Francis was a U. S. missionary with the Baptist International Missions until his death. He ministered in the countries of Haiti and Ecuador and was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Landrum. Surviving is his beloved wife of 54 years, Dorothea Ellen Dutcher Francis; children, Brenda Lee Nickerson (Paul) of Westminster, MA, Jane Elizabeth Hager (Jack) of DeKalb, MO, John Edmond Francis Jr. (Cynthia) of St. John, IN, and Linda Ellen Wilkerson (John) of Hammond, IN; 20 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and brother, Robert Allen Francis of Kingston, MA. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a daughter, Ann Marie Francis. A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at Bible Baptist Church, 330 W. Finger St., Landrum, SC 29356, by Dr. Tommy Turner, Dr. John Francis, and Dr. Reggie Remple. Burial will follow at 3:30 PM in Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens, 4081 Hwy 9 N, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
