John McKnight Folden, 97, of Spartanburg, died August 3, 2012 at his home. Born January 26, 1915 in Wellsville, Ohio, he was the son of the late Elmer George and Lillian McKnight Folden. Mr. Folden came to Spartanburg in May 1962, to assist transferring Firestone Steel Stamping Plant from Akron, Ohio. While in Spartanburg, he served as the production manager for manufacturing until his retirement in March 1980. Mr. Folden was a 32 degree Mason and a member of the Firestone Park United Methodist Church in Akron, Ohio. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII serving in France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany with the 171st Engineering Combat Battalion. He is survived by his wife, Vera Roos Folden; son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Becky Folden of Bloomfield Hills, MI; grandson, Jonathan Folden of Bloomfield Hills, MI; and sister-in-law, Ruth Folden of Spartanburg. Visitation will be held 7:00-9:00 PM Tuesday at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Medihome Hospice, 101 S.
