John Erwin, Jr.

John Joe Erwin, Jr., 72, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born January 9, 1949 in Gaffney, SC, he was the son of the late Faye Childers and John Joe Erwin, Sr.

Mr. Erwin served in the US Marine Corp and was a proud veteran. He was of the Baptist faith. John loved going out to Lake Greenwood to fish, loved watching “Gunsmoke” and he enjoyed having his chocolate. John was known to always give you a compliment.

Survivors include his granddaughter, Christina Erwin, his great granddaughter, Addison Phillips, his sister, Susie Russell, and his brother, Steve Erwin, all of Spartanburg, SC. Along with parents, he was also predeceased by his son, Scottie Erwin, and his brothers, Michael Erwin and Randy Erwin.

Visitation will be 3:00 – 5:00 PM Sunday, October 3, 2021 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. A funeral service will be at 12:00 PM Monday, October 4, 2021 at the chapel. Burial with Military Rites will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
