John Bernard Drennan, 75, of 11 Calvert Street, died Monday, April 5, 2010, at his home. Born February 7, 1935, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Bernard Smith and Nellie Hewitt Drennan. He attended Wofford College and was a retired security officer with Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System after 18 years of service. He was a member of Skylyn United Methodist Church and treasurer of the Breakfast Club. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Gwinn Drennan; a son, John Edward Drennan and wife Amelia of Drayton; two step-sons, John Terry of Niceville, FL, and Bobby Terry and wife Beth of Middleburg, FL; a sister, Betsy Gordon and husband Billy of Kingstree; a brother, Richard A. Drennan and wife Sandra of Spartanburg; his mother-in-law, Evelyn Gwinn of Spartanburg; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a special aunt, Beatrice Hewitt. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2010, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. James B. Carter.
