John Thomas "Tom" Buice, 64, lifelong resident of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, July 27, 2015 at his home after a battle with cancer. Born November 28, 1950, in Newberry, SC, he was the son of the late William Earle Buice Sr. and Dorothy Medlin Buice. Tom, who long-time friends knew as Tommy, was known by all as a caring man who would never leave a friend in need and, indeed, never met anyone who did not become a friend. In his forty-plus career as a caterer, he fed thousands of people his lovingly prepared food including white wine cake, marinated shrimp, pulled pork, and even beef wellington. He rode his bicycle thousands of miles including a couple of trips up Mount Mitchell, coached his children and many of their friends basketball and soccer, competed in the world of BBQ with friends on the Butts and Breastts Team, and entertained friends and family by playing the harmonica. He loved to travel with his wife and family and had many adventures including those on the Blue Ridge Parkway, on Oak Island, in New Orleans, and his favorite spot, Silver Sands, Jamaica. Survivors include his beloved wife of 13 years, Kim Creef Buice; his three children, Tracy Buice Butchko (Joe) of Greenville, SC, John Travis Buice (Darla) of Leesburg, VA, and Abigail Lowry Buice of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Tyler, Ava, and Logan Buice of Leesburg, VA, and Sadie Butchko of Greenville, SC; sister, Mary Leslie Buice Patterson (Bob) of Lenoir City, TN; sister-in-law, Donna Davis Buice of Greenville, SC and several nieces and nephews. A lifelong pet owner and lover of animals, Tom also leaves behind his dogs, Murphy and Ramona, and Cheddar the cat. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his older sister, Nancy Buice Brown (Dean) and his older brother, William Earle (Bill) Buice, Jr. Visitation will be at the home on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, from 5:00 - 8:00 PM. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 30, 2015, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1320 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Rev. John L.
