John Bradberry

John Henry Bradberry, 93, of Spartanburg, formerly of Anderson, SC, died Sunday, April 22, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born May 23, 1918, in Townville, SC, he was the son of the late John Will and Mattie Lou Price Bradberry. He was educated in the Anderson City schools and attended Clemson University. Mr. Bradberry was a past master and lifetime member of Ruff Lodge #240 in Anderson, SC. He was a member of Garner Memorial Baptist Church for many years where he served as deacon, Sunday School superintendent, and superintendent of the High School Department. Later, he was also Sunday School superintendent of Boulevard Baptist Church in Anderson, SC. After moving to Spartanburg, he was a member of First Baptist Church, and later, Morningside Baptist Church. He was associated with Westpoint Pepperell Manufacturing Company for 50 years as superintendent of weaving. Surviving are his son Ted Henry Bradberry and wife Varina of Columbia, SC; daughter Janis Turrentine and her husband William Newton Turrentine, Jr. of Spartanburg; grandchildren: William Newton Turrentine III and his wife Anna; Elizabeth Turrentine Nuckolls and her husband Tom; and Eugenia Turrentine Waldrop and her husband Michael, all of Greenville, SC; great-grandchildren William Newton Turrentine IV, Dayton Elizabeth Nuckolls, Avery Turrentine Nuckolls, Thomas Jeremiah Nuckolls IV, Michael Robert Waldrop Jr., and John Henry Turrentine Waldrop, all of Greenville, SC; and faithful friend and caregiver, Doris Messer. He was predeceased by his wife Louise Dixon Bradberry on December 15, 2007. A private cryptside service will be conducted at 4:00 PM Tuesday, April 24, 2012, in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson, SC, by the Rev. Dr. Kirk H. Neely. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Morningside Baptist Church, 897 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
