John Boukedes

John James Boukedes, 83, died Sunday, June 16, 2013, at White Oak Manor-Spartanburg. Born September 15, 1929, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late James George and Nettie Crocker Boukedes. He graduated from Georgia Military College in College Park, GA and attended The Citadel. John was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was retired from CSX Railroad Company. Survivors include two sisters, Nancy Allen and husband, Frank "Puz" Allen, and Mary Coggins and husband, Bill, all of Spartanburg; nephews, Del Allen, Steve Coggins, and Mike, Darryl, David II and Gregg Boukedes; nieces, Amy Solesbee, Bonnie LaRussa, Melitsa Sak, Suzette Hodge and Jaymie Salley; and special friends, Katie Wood, Courtney Akins and R. J. Young. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers George, Jimmy and David Boukedes; sisters, Elaine Epton and Frances Burlak; and stepmother, Iphigenia Boukedes. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, June 18, 2013, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Arthur Holt. Visitation will follow at the graveside. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
