John Berry

John "Pete" Berry, 73, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born August 28, 1942, in Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late James and Edith Mason Berry and husband of the late Ellen Dean Berry. Pete was the owner of Pete's Upholstery Shop and a member of Eastside Baptist Church. He was a loving "Papa" and will be missed by all who knew him, especially his buddy "Oscar" the Boston Terrier. Survivors include his son, John "Petey" Berry, III (Allison) of Whitestone, SC; his daughter, Lesa Gardner (Rodney) of Inman, SC; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a daughter, Sandra Berry Burrell. The family will receive friends 11:00-11:45 AM Friday, January 29, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Mike Royal. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Eastside Baptist Church Life Fund, c/o Eastside Baptist Church, 1850 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
