Joe William Tapp

Joe William Tapp, 86, died on Thursday, August 18, 2023. Joe was born on March 10, 1937, in Spartanburg County, SC to the late James Sexton and Edna White Tapp.

 In his younger years, Joe was a talented baseball player in the Spartanburg textile baseball league. He worked as a textile executive at Butte Knit and Lesley Fay, and then later worked in the automotive sales industry. Joe, who cherished his family dearly, never met a stranger and was an avid golfer and animal lover. He also proudly served in the United States Army.

Joe is survived by his children, Kevin Joe Tapp (Scarlette) of Landrum, SC, Julie Tapp Horton (Chris) of Anderson, SC, and Christian Davis Tapp (Celeste) of Inman, SC. Joe was blessed with five grandchildren, Kelly Nicholls (Russell Steadman), Davis Tapp, Cameron Tapp, Lucas Tapp, and Parker Tapp; and two great-grandchildren, Owen and Wesley Steadman. “Joe Bill,” as he was known to his family and friends, is predeceased by his brothers, Leonard, Jay, Gus, and Dewell Tapp; and two sisters, Sue Tapp Sanders and Betty Tapp Dukes.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM on Tuesday, August 22 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel with a memorial service following at 3 PM. Conducted by the Reverend Dr. Allan Purtill.
