Joe Jenkins

Joe Carrol Jenkins, 64, of Spartanburg, died Sunday, January 31, 2010, at his home. Born November 6, 1945, in Spartanburg County, SC, he was the son of the late Otis Richardson and Willie Vernell Burts Jenkins. A graduate of Limestone College, he was retired from Siemans Corporation after 38 years of service. He was a member of the National Guard for six years and of the Baptist faith. Survivors include three nieces, Vickie Lowe of Spartanburg, Christy Waters and her husband Tim of Roebuck, and Tina West of Boiling Springs; and a nephew, Ricky Jenkins of Texas. Mr. Jenkins was known as "Papa Joe" to his great-nieces and great-nephew, Taylor, Meagan, and Mitchell. He was predeceased by a sister, Peggy Dillard; and two brothers, Jack Jenkins and Mike Jenkins. Visitation will be 7:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 4, 2010, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Sal Barone.
