Joe Frye

Joseph Howard Frye, 77, of 585 East Lake Drive, Spartanburg, SC, died Saturday, January 23, 2010, at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born April 7, 1932, in Aynor, SC, he was the son of the late Benjamin Franklin Frye, Sr. and Naomi Gore Frye and husband of Jean Moore Frye. He was the former owner and operator of Reidville Road Parr 3 and Joe Frye Golf Shop. He was a member of Red Hill United Methodist Church in Aynor, SC, a member of Golf Course Superintendent's Association, the SC Senior Golf Association, VFW, and a Veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a business degree. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a sister, Dorothy Wise of Aynor, SC, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, B. F. Frye and Dock Frye; and two sisters, Tencie Frye Gifford and Harriett Frye Fowler. Visitation will be 12:30-1:45 p.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel conducted by the Rev. Todd Lowe and the Rev. Dr. James W. Crocker. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum.
