Joe Edge

Joe Harrison Edge, 70, of Duncan, SC, died Saturday, February 15, 2014, at Greer Memorial Hospital. Born June 27, 1943, in Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late Palmer Harrison Edge, Jr. and Verley Williams Edge. A retired U. S. Army veteran, Staff Sergeant Edge served two tours of duty during the Vietnam War. He also retired from Cryovac after 30 years of service and was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. He attended Wofford College and earned his Bachelor's Degree from Limestone College. Surviving are brothers, Armond Edge (Barbara) of Reidville, SC, and Perry Edge (Pam) of Spartanburg, SC; and nephew, Scott Edge of Moore, SC. A graveside service with military rites by the SC State Guard Honors Team, will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 19, 2014, in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, 790 Highway 417, Moore, SC 29369, by the Rev. Robert Bevill. Visitation will follow at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mobile Meals Service, P.O. Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304; or a charity of one's choice.
