Joe Dever Smith, Jr., 73, of Cowpens, SC, died Monday, October 12, 2015, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born February 18, 1942, in Love Springs, SC, he was the son of the late Joe Dever Smith, Sr. and Dovie Louise Wyatt Smith, and husband, for 40 years, of the late Mary Eugenia Smith. Mr. Smith was a member of Love Springs Baptist Church and retired from Kohler. He loved working on lawn mowers, woodworking, and talking on the CB radio. Survivors include two daughters, Stacey S. Dulin (fiancé, Jason Burton) of Inman, SC and Amy S. Hinson (Dr. Dave) of Greenville, SC; four grandchildren, Joe Morgan Dulin, Jake Alexander Dulin, MaKayla Nicole Hinson, Katlyn Leigh Hinson; brothers, Jack Smith of Florida, Bill Smith of Westminster, SC, and Wendell Smith of Chesnee, SC; and sisters, Ann McGarity of Spartanburg, SC and Norma Holcombe of Gaffney, SC. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by brothers, James "Jim" Smith, Gary Smith, Kenneth Smith, and Robert Smith; and sisters, Sue Hamrick and Jane Grant. Visitation will be 2:00-2:45 PM Thursday, October 15, 2015, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by Chaplain Carson Rogerson and Mr. Sean Smith. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. The family will be at the home of Stacey Dulin.
