Joanne Dillard Correll, 70, of Spartanburg, SC died Thursday, April 29, 2021, at her home. Born in Spartanburg, SC on March 24, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Joseph R. Dillard and Helen Burgess Dillard.
Mrs. Correll also known as “Nana”, “Mrs. C.” and “Lily”, was a substitute teacher at Spartanburg High School for 25 years, who loved attending their high school football games. She enjoyed reading, and doing arts and crafts, loved shopping, and driving to the mountains. Mrs. Correll was a member of St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years Albert “Bert” Correll; daughter, Ashley Cooksey (Jesse) of Spartanburg; sons, Hunter Correll (Terri) of Greer, SC, Gantt Correll (Amanda) and Taylor Correll-Greer (Aaron) all of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Ballenger Cooksey, Madison Cooksey, Marissa Correll, Daniel Kirby, Carson Correll, Kayla Whitmer, and Brandon Whitmer; great-grandchildren, Natalia Whitmer; best friend, Vivian Shufelt, and her rescue dog, Sophie.
A private service will be planned for a later date. The family will be accepting family and friends at her home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
