Jo Ann Thomas Sexton, 83, formerly of 138 Skyuka Street, Drayton, died Saturday, October 22, 2022, at White Oak at North Grove, Spartanburg, SC. Born February 27, 1939, in Laurens County, SC, she was the widow of the late Douglas E. Sexton, and daughter of the late Ralph Thomas and the late Lottie Mae Millwood and Boyce E. Smith.
A strong Christian woman, she was a Charter Member of the SC Ceramics Association, and Past Matron and Life Member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are three daughters, Kimberlyn S. Ball (Ronnie) of Woodruff, Tamanda S. Kirby (Richard) of Spartanburg, and Dawn S. Hammitt of Spartanburg; one son, David D. Sexton (Charlie) of Belmont, NC; two grandchildren, Heather Smith (Ryan) and Chasity Kirby (Mandy); and three great-grandchildren, Veda, Dexter, and Adyn. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one sister, Fran Guy, and one brother, Greg Thomas.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Cemetery, 1300 Fernwood- Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC, conducted by Hospice Chaplain Justin Nelson. Visitation will follow at the graveside.
