Joan Wofford

Joan Johnson Wofford, 75, of Spartanburg, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 10, 2009, at her home surrounded by her family after a battle with cancer. Born February 15, 1934, in Knox County, TN, she was the daughter of the late John Vivian and Mayme Troy Yates Johnson and the wife of the late Jerry Flavell Wofford. She was retired from Grace Distribution and was of the Pentecostal faith. Survivors include three sons, Jerry Daniel Wofford and his wife Karen L. Edwards Wofford, John Franklin Wofford and his wife Robin Seay Wofford, and Kenneth Sherman Wofford and his wife Cathy Greene Wofford, all of Spartanburg; four grandchildren, John Franklin Wofford, Jr. and his wife Angela Smith Wofford, Lecretia Ann Wofford, Sidney Francesca Wofford, all of Spartanburg, and Christopher Robin Wofford of Newberry; two great-grandchildren, Bethany Laurel Wofford and Jonathan Jacob Wofford; a sister, Wanda "Jean" Johnson Hixson of Boiling Springs; and a brother, Bobby Sherman Johnson and his wife Francis "Chick" Allison Johnson of Spartanburg. She was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Jimmy Hixson. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel conducted by the Rev. John F. Wofford. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
