Joan Edgens Timmons, 78, of Spring Arbor, died Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born May 2, 1931, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Myrtle Pollard Edgens and the wife of the late Douglas F. Timmons. She was a lifelong member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church until they merged with Central United Methodist Church. At Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church, she taught kindergarten Sunday School for 25 years. Survivors include two daughters, Elaine T. Steading and husband Steve of Inman, and Susan T. Sinclair and husband Wayne of Boiling Springs; a son, Douglas Todd Timmons and wife Bernice of Woodruff; three granddaughters, Jessica Steading of Inman, Chelsea S. Huffling and husband Shaun of Myrtle Beach, and Savannah Timmons of Woodruff; and a special friend and sister-in-law, June Smith of Greer. Visitation will be 2:00-2:45 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel conducted by the Rev. Luther Rickenbaker, III and the Rev. C. Allen Senn. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family is at the home of her daughter, Elaine Steading, 106 Owens Drive, Inman.
