Joan Giesler

Joan Elizabeth Shadle Giesler, 89, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, June 2, 2020, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born March 11, 1931, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Dorothy Emery Shadle. A wonderful wife and mother as well as a lady of strong faith who loved her children and grandchildren, Mrs. Giesler was a member of Joy Lutheran Church. She enjoyed singing her entire life and was a lifelong member of the choir. She was also a master gardener who always brought beauty, passion, and joy to those around her. Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Wilbur J. Giesler; children, Gretchen Riemersma (Norman) of Glenwood, IA, Diane Kilbourn of Spartanburg, SC, Eric Giesler (Laurie) of Cicero, IN, and Kurt Giesler (Mariana) of Rock Hill, SC; 7 granddaughters; 12 great-grandchildren; and brothers, William Shadle and Peter Shadle (Roe), both of Hamburg, NY. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date at Joy Lutheran Church, 3980 Moore Duncan Hwy., Moore, SC 29369, with The Rev. Lane Bembenek officiating.
