Joan Davis

Joan Elizabeth Quinn Squires Davis of Spartanburg, SC died Friday, April 8, 2016. Born May 13, 1941, in Charleston, SC, she was the daughter of the late Trudy Groce Alweine and step-father, Lt. Laurence Alewine. Joan was formerly the Executive Assistant for Attorney Gary Poliakoff for around 15 years. She was a member of Arcadia United Methodist Church where she was an active volunteer for many years. She was a very loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her other love was gardening. Survivors include a daughter, Lesli Alcorn (Don Goebel) of Knoxville, TN; sons, Stacy Squires (Linda) of Inman, SC; Scott Squires (Anita) of Richmond Hill, GA; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and a sister, Sheila Bradner (Phil) of Tryon, NC. Graveside services will be 1:00 PM Monday, April 11, 2016 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Rev. James B. Carter and CH (MAJ) J. Scott Squires. Visitation will follow at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agapé Hospice, 1060 Boiling Springs Road #1, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
