Joan Butehorn

Joan Dominick Butehorn, 63, of Spartanburg, died Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at Summit Hills after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born December 18, 1946 in Newberry, SC, she was the daughter of the late Emory Ansel and Thelma Louise Lester Dominick. She was a graduate of Greenville General Hospital School of Nursing and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Survivors include her husband of forty-two years, Dr. Henry F. Butehorn, Jr.; two sons, Dr. Henry F. (Lori) Butehorn, III of Spartanburg and Jon C. (Caroline) Butehorn of Mount Pleasant; four grandchildren, Henry F. Butehorn, IV, Sophie Nara Butehorn, Darby Elizabeth Butehorn, and Emory Harrison Butehorn; two brothers, Terry Donald (Jill) Dominick and Alfred Von Dominick of Newberry; two nephews, Tyler and Trey Dominick of Newberry; and an aunt, Joyce Johnson of La Grange, GA. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, November 27, 2010 at St. John's Lutheran Church, conducted by Pastor Mike Shackelford. Private inurnment will be in the Church Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 415 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
