Jo Scott

Jo Ellyn "Jody" Scott, 59, of Moore, SC died Friday, June 26, 2015 at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born September 7, 1955, in Rochester, NY, she was the daughter of James Donald Laurin of Cleveland, OH and Sally Lou Margaret Johnston Puckett (Michael) of Brownwood, TX. As a University of North Carolina-Greensboro Alumnae, she taught music and drama at Meeting Street Academy. Jody was involved in many organizations, including First Presbyterian Church Chamber Singers, Spartanburg Festival Chorus, and The Spartanburg Little Theatre. As a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, she was a longtime choir member and active in many church affairs. A woman of strong faith, Jody was a very loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and aunt. Survivors include her loving husband, Alan William Scott of the home; daughters, Hayley Aileen Scott and Meredith Kelsey Scott of the home; sisters, Kristin Mattox (Michael) of Fayetteville, NC; Melissa Burt (William) of Oxnard, CA; brothers, Tom Laurin (Vivian) of San Diego, CA; Jamie Laurin (Bettysue) of Winston-Salem, NC; and Mark Laurin (Stacy) of Wilmington, NC; and a large number of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Monday, June 29, 2015 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 415 South Pine St., Spartanburg, SC 29302, conducted by the Rev. Emily Edenfield. Inurnment will be in the church Columbarium at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gibbs Cancer Center, SRHS Foundation, 101 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29303 or to Meeting Street Academy, 201 E Broad St #110, Spartanburg, SC 29306.
