Jimmy Wayne Wilkins, 74, died Thursday, December 26, 2024. He was born on October 5, 1950, in Spartanburg, a son of the late Otto and Anease Pilgrim Wilkins and was the husband of the late Peggy Hawes Wilkins.
He was a 1969 graduate of Foster’s Road High School, he served in the US Army in Vietnam and retired from the J. F. Floyd Mortuary. Jimmy loved to fish and was well known for his hugs, his loving heart and even though he did not have children, he had many. He was also known for his barbecuing of hams, chicken and ribs, cooking pound cakes, red velvet cakes, pinto beans, sweet potato pies and most anything else that makes your mouth water!
He is survived by a sister, Teresa Wilkins and predeceased by his siblings, Irene Cates, Clara Wilkins, Otto Wilkins, Jr., and James Wilkins.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 1:45 pm Saturday, January 4, 2024, at the J. W. Woodward Funeral Home, 594 Howard Street, Spartanburg, SC 29303. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm in the chapel. Burial will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 10, 2024, at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery, 140 Inway Drive, Anderson, SC 29621.
