Jimmy Tolleson

Jimmy Landrum Tolleson, 86, of Spartanburg, SC, died Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born September 20, 1930 in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Homer and Flora Mae Bishop Tolleson. Mr. Tolleson was retired from Draper Corporation and prior to that, for eight years, played professional baseball, primarily with the Cleveland Indians. He was a member of Peach Valley Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon. He also served in many other capacities including the Christian Fellowship League, where he served as director of the Men's and Women's Softball teams. He was an avid golfer, and a gardener. His legacy was his faith, family, and sports. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Sarah Esther Easler Tolleson; sons, Wayne Tolleson (Kim) and Michael Tolleson (Pam); daughter, Karen Weber (Mike) all of Spartanburg; grandsons, Steven Tolleson, Clint Tolleson, Luke Weber, Paxton Tolleson, Hank Tolleson; granddaughter, Regan Tolleson; three great granddaughters, Claire, Sarah and Harper. Along with his parents, he was also predeceased by his sisters, Betty Dorman and Gayle Lawson. Visitation will be 12:00 - 1:30 PM Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM at the chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Ron Gaddy and the Rev. Dr. Mike Moody. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peach Valley Baptist Church, 105 Burns Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307 or to Spartanburg Regional Home Care and Hospice, P.O. Box 430, Drayton, SC 29333.
