Jimmy Thornton

Jimmy Mike Thornton, 70, of Spartanburg, died Tuesday, February 28, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born March 17, 1941, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Oren and Ruby Green Cannon. He was formerly employed by Fairforest Fence Company. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Louise Goforth Thornton; children, Michael James Thornton (Trudy) of Spartanburg, Billy Wayne Thornton (Cindy) of Spartanburg, Oren Lee Thornton and fiancée Vivian Lindsay of Cowpens, Angela Lenora Tyler (Albert) of Woodruff, Jamie L. Thornton (Jamie Nicole) of Cowpens; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Larry Thornton of Florida; and sister, Nancy Hensley of Spartanburg. He was predeceased by a daughter, Melissa Ann Thornton; and brother, Phillip Thornton. Visitation will be 7:00-9:00 PM Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, March 2, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by the Rev. Jerry Darnell and the Rev. Kevin Barnett. Burial will be in Good Shepherd Memorial Park.
