Alvin Jimmy Smith, 75, of Woodruff, passed away on May 19, 2024, at Spartanburg Medical Center. He was born January 22, 1949, a son of the late William Alvin and Florence Burnett Smith. Jimmy was married to Carrie Marlene G. Smith for 39 years.
Jimmy was raised in the home of Elizabeth Smith and her son, Tom Smith was like a brother to Jimmy. Along with his wife, Jimmy is survived by a sister, Susan Koon and her husband, John; two nephews, Scott Smith and Cory Greene; and a niece, Tammy McCraw, who he cherished like a daughter.
Jimmy was once a member of the SC Highway Patrol and worked for Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office under Sheriff Larry Smith. He was known to his family as “Mr. Fix-It”- if he couldn’t fix it, you could just throw it away! He was known around town as Mr. Produce, as he was all around Spartanburg selling produce off of his truck.
