Jim Tindall

James Carroll Tindall, 74, of Spartanburg, SC, died Sunday, February 28, 2016, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born October 11, 1941, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late James Landrum Tindall and Frances Lanford Tindall Foster. A veteran U. S. Army Lieutenant with the 299th Combat Engineer Battalion in Vietnam, Mr. Tindall was a Civil Engineer graduate of Clemson A & M College where he was a member of the ROTC and the Pershing Rifles Drill Team. He was also a master woodworker, former Little League Baseball coach, and a past member of the Spartanburg Sertoma Club. He retired from his engineering role with HSMM/AECOM of Spartanburg and was a past-president of the South Carolina Society of Professional Engineers, and also a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Among survivors are his wife, Martha "Binky" Grant Tindall of the home; son, Michael Alan Tindall (Dedra) of Aylett, VA; daughter, Dina Marie Tindall Cooksey (Wayne) of Boiling Springs, SC; stepsons, John James Scurry IV of the home and Grant Leggett Scurry (Laurie) of Charleston, SC; brother, Kenneth E. Tindall (Jackie) of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Nikki Cooksey Bryson of Inman, SC, and Natalie Cooksey Lovelace (Josh) of Chesnee, SC; step-grandchildren, Connor Prichard Scurry and Ella Grant Scurry of Charleston, SC; great-grandchildren, Shelby Bryson and Savannah Bryson of Inman, SC, Jackson Lovelace and Neelie Claire Lovelace of Chesnee, SC. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. A graveside service, with military honors, will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 3, 2016, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Neal Y. Woods.
