Jessie Hester Dennis, 95 years old, of Inman, SC passed away peacefully at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice House in Spartanburg, SC on January 4, 2024.
She was born in Octavia, Oklahoma and raised in Big Spring, TX. She had two siblings, a brother, Roy Hester from West Texas, who preceded her in death, and a sister, Aline Parker of Thomasville, NC.
Jessie was married to Weldon Dennis in 1947, who preceded her in death in 2012. They were the parents of three children; Bruce Dennis (Paula) of Fort Worth, TX, Linda Mallis (Stephen) and Cecilia Robinson (Ben), both of Inman, SC; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Jessie was a Christian and had been active at Southside Baptist Church in Spartanburg since 1975, teaching adult Sunday School and participating in many other activities until she could no longer attend due to health issues. She and her husband, Weldon made numerous mission trips with Caribbean Outreach through Southside.
She also delivered Meals on Wheels weekly for well over 30 years. She had a passion for animals, never met one that she didn’t love, and an amazing green thumb, having a green house in her home, involved in the African Violet Society, and winning many ribbons for her violets and orchids in various flower shows.
Her greatest asset was the gift of giving and taking care of others in need. She will be dearly missed as the most devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, always putting others before herself.
We would like to thank her caregivers, JoAnne Ballenger, Debbie Beland, and Charlene Martin who tenderly took care of her the past three years, and to the staff of Regional Hospice House for their exemplary care.
The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. David Ike, her cardiologist, not only for his exceptional care, but for loving her like family.
Grief is the price we pay for love…Queen Elizabeth II.
