Jerry Stewart

Jerry Leland Stewart, 70, of Boiling Springs, SC, died peacefully in his home on Thursday, September 25, 2014. Born January 11, 1944, in Pickens County, SC, he was the son of the late Elbert Jake Stewart and Pauline Martin Stewart Newport. A U. S. Army veteran, 1st Sergeant (Ret), Mr. Stewart served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was of the Church of God faith, a member of Fairforest Masonic Lodge, Spartanburg Hunt Club, and owner of Jerry Stewart Painting. Survivors include his beloved wife of 48 years, Marcia McKinney Stewart; daughter, Lynn S. Covil (Jeff) of Boiling Springs, SC; son, David L. Stewart (Tammy) of Boiling Springs, SC; four grandchildren, Lauren E. Covil, Kaleigh L. Covil, Zoey R. Stewart, and Mason T. Stewart; sister, Gloria Reid (Dennis) of Spartanburg, SC; and brother, Franklin Stewart (Evelyn) of Pickens, SC. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Lisa Kathleen Stewart. Masonic rites will begin at 6:30 PM Friday, September 26, 2014, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel, 4161 Hwy 9 N, Boiling Springs, SC 29316, followed by visitation from 7:00-8:00 PM. A graveside service, with military rites by the U. S. Army Honor Guard, will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 27, 2014, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. John Petty and the Rev. Dennis Reid.
