Jerry Owens

Jerry Wayne Owens, 77, of Spartanburg, died Sunday, November 27, 2011, at his home. Born September 29, 1934, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Hampton Wendell and Mamie Mabel Eaves Owens. Mr. Owens was retired from the U. S. Air Force, Tech Sergeant, after 21 years of service, including the Vietnam War. He was then employed with J. Frank Blakely. He was a member of Powell Presbyterian Church, an avid fisherman, and loved his Lord, wife, and family dearly. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Lee Hendrick Owens; son, Jerry Wayne Owens, Jr. (Dana) of Boiling Springs; daughters, Pamela Owens Kincaid (Kevin) of Wellford and Stephanie Owens Varner (Dennis) of the home; granddaughter, Suzanne Kiser and great-granddaughter, Brooke Kiser both raised in the home; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Walsie W. Owens and J. Denny Owens, both of Spartanburg. Visitation will be 7:00-9:00 PM Tuesday, November 29, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 30, 2011, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, by the Rev. Fred Thompson.
