Jerry Harrison

Jerry Julienne Harrison, 72, of Spartanburg, SC, died Friday, September 27, 2013 at his home. Born November 5, 1940, in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late Henry Wofford and Marie Ola Long Harrison. A U. S. Navy veteran, Mr. Harrison continued the legacy of his father as President of Hurley & Harrison and later founded the Harrison Group. He attended Christ School (Arden, NC) and played football at Wofford College. Jerry was a member of The Episcopal Church of the Advent, the Greenville Country Club, and the Society of International Business Fellows. His legacy is his openhearted love for family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Schoepf Harrison; children, Jerry Julienne Harrison, Jr. (Dana) of Marietta, GA, Wofford Eugene Harrison of Greenville, SC, and Melissa Harrison Brillhart (Jacob) of Miami, FL; step-children, Marjorie Spigner Garrett (Wesley) of Greenville, SC, and Natalie Spigner McConnell (Beechard) of Anderson, SC; six grandchildren, Julienne Harrison, Elizabeth Harrison, Drake Garrett, John Garrett, Anna McConnell, and Catherine McConnell; and a sister, Maria Lynn Theiss (Eric) of Simpsonville, SC. In addition to his parents, he is pre-deceased by two brothers, Michael Rose Harrison and Henry Long "Hank" Harrison. A memorial service will be conducted at 3:30 PM Monday, September 30, 2013, at The Episcopal Church of the Advent, 141 Advent St., Spartanburg, SC 29302, by the Rev. Stephen Y. McGehee. In keeping with his wishes, the family will celebrate his life with an Irish wake at the home following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cancer Association of Spartanburg & Cherokee Counties, PO Box 1582, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
