Jennie Vermillion

Jennie Ruth Gwinn Vermillion, 85, of Spartanburg passed away Sunday, November 4, 2012 at The Hospice Center in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Born November 2, 1927 in Spartanburg, she was the wife of the late Marvin Brown Vermillion to whom she was married for 48 years and the daughter of the late Mark T. Gwinn, Sr. and Henrietta Locke Gwinn. She was a graduate of Spartanburg High School, Class of 1945, attended Converse College, and was a graduate of Cecil's Business College. Jennie retired from Wofford College with 35 years of service in the Development and Alumni Office. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church where she worked in the Junior Sunday School Department for 18 years. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Marvin B. (Marty) and Deborah Vermillion, II of Mt. Pleasant, SC, a grandson, Ryan Christopher Vermillion of Plano, Texas and a sister, Dorothy G. Switzer, of Spartanburg. Mrs. Vermillion was preceded in death by two brothers, Mark T. Gwinn, Jr. of Colton, California and Charles E. Gwinn of East Point, Georgia. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Schuyler Peterson. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
