Jean Tate Thomason, 85, of Cross Hill, SC, died Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at her home. Born April 7, 1929 in Forest City, NC, she was the daughter of the late Thomas W. and Marie Watkins Tate, and widow of Marvin Eugene Thomason. Mrs. Thomason was a retired supervisor with Drayton Mills in Spartanburg and a member of Cross Hill First Baptist Church. She loved her church and was active in many capacities with her Sunday School Class, Vacation Bible School, and the Homebound Ministry. Most of all, she loved her family and friends. Survivors include her grandchildren, Michael P. Savage of San Jose, CA; Sara M. Thomason of Trussville, AL; great-grandchildren, Jackson Savage, Harrison Savage, and Penelope "Penny" Savage; sisters, Faye Smith, Jolayne Towery, and Judy Radford; and brothers, Donald Tate and Ray Tate. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Michael M. Thomason; sisters, Helen McGaha and Darcus Sara Tate; and brothers, Max Tate and Jim Tate. Visitation will be 10:00-10:50 AM Friday, December 19, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307, with funeral services following at 11:00 AM in the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Brett Davis.
