Jean Newman

Jean Kimsey Newman, 81, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, August 6, 2015, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born June 4, 1934, in Toccoa, GA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Benjamin Kimsey and Daisy Nelle Richie Kimsey. Mrs. Newman was a member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, the Gideon Auxiliary, and retired after 40 years of service as a medical technologist. Surviving are her loving husband of 51 years, John Max Newman; daughter, Jill Newman Judy (Mac) of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Anna Christine Judy, John-David Judy, and Joseph Benjamin Judy, all of Spartanburg, SC; sister, Floye Smith (Boyd) of Toccoa, GA; foster sister, Laura Cheeley Kimsey of Toccoa, GA; and nephew, Chad Smith (Doreen) of Orlando, FL. Visitation will be 2:00-3:30 PM Saturday, August 8, 2015, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Sal Barone. Burial will be at 11:00 AM Monday, August 10, 2015, in Toccoa City Cemetery, Toccoa, GA.
