Jean Moore

February 20, 1925 — December 17, 2013

Geneva "Jean" Bellew Moore, 88, of Spartanburg, died Tuesday, December 17, 2013, in Longwood, Florida. Born in Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late Henry R. and Mamie Netherton Bellew, and the wife of the late E. Laurence Moore, Jr. Jean was a member of Morningside Baptist Church for 60 years and a member of the Ruth Sunday School Class. She was a former member of the Morning Gardner's Garden Club. She was a cosmetologist at Smith's Drug Store when she met and married Laurence, her beloved husband of 42 years. After taking time off to raise their daughter, she became a floral designer and wedding consultant at Kathleen's Flowers. Jean was her happiest when she was growing and arranging flowers. She loved working in her gardens and creating floral arrangements for her family and friends. She was a sweet person with a kind heart who comforted and inspired all who knew her. She was extremely friendly and never met a stranger. She will be sorely missed. She is survived by a daughter, Linda M. Gamble and her husband Glenn of Longwood, FL; two granddaughters, Julie M. Gamble of Tampa, FL, and Dr. Sara J. Gamble of Durham, NC; two sisters, Shirley Horton and her husband Donald of Spartanburg, and Virginia Davis and her husband Harold of Orangeburg; and three sisters-in-law, Martha Axman of Spartanburg, Pep Seaborn of Williamston, and Lovey Bigham of Asheville. She was predeceased by one sister, Eleanor Fleming and a sister-in-law, Klym Allen, both of Spartanburg. Visitation will be held from 12:30-1:30 PM Monday, December 23, 2013, at Morningside Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM conducted by the Reverend Dr. Kirk H. Neely. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Complex, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Memorials may be made to Morningside Baptist Church Building Fund, 897 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
