Jean D. Lamp, 94, of Summit Hills, Spartanburg, SC, passed away Friday, June 25, 2021. Born in Albany NY on November 10, 1926, she was the loving daughter of Joseph Messina and Angela Conde Messina and wife of her beloved husband Vernett R. Lamp.
She graduated from Vincentian Institute, Albany NY, was a Paralegal in the law firm of Donohue, Bohl and Clayton and then Executive Secretary to the President of Barnet Mills. She was an accomplished pianist and organized three popular music groups, The Jazz Cellar Six in Albany, NY and in retirement, The Tabby Cats on Dataw Island, SC, and a singing group that performed cabaret music shows at Summit Hills.
She leaves her brother and sister-in-law, James and Joan Messina; brother, Joseph Messina; niece and family, Cynthia Messina, Jeff Gold, and Evan Messina Gold; two nephews and their families, J. Michael Messina, Adam Messina and Leah Messina, and David and Catherine Messina, Maxwell Messina and Sophia Messina Kinlein, and William Barnet and his family who were like family to her for many years.
There will be a private family service at Hatcher Gardens and Woodland Preserve in Spartanburg.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Hatcher Gardens, 832 John B. White Sr. Blvd, Spartanburg, SC 29306, in her honor would be appreciated.
