Jean Burge Hamner, 96, of Boiling Springs, passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021. She was born on September 10, 1925, in Pinnacle, NC, a daughter of the late William Columbus and Anna Browder Burge.
Mrs. Hamner was a member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg. She was a retired realtor with Century 21, a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and assisted at the Helping Center of First Baptist. She was a beautician by trade and a voracious reader.
Survivors include two daughters, Kim Hamner Wells of Boiling Springs, and Jacqueline Jeannette McGaha (Tony) of Spartanburg. Grandchildren, Jaime Wells Nash (Brian), Nicholas Wells (Ariel), Corey Wells, Ashley McGaha, and Ryan McGaha (Desiree); four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews to whom she remained close. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Barbara Hamner, of Fredericksburg, VA. She was predeceased by her husband, Jack Hamner, her sisters Vera Lawson, Kate Kennedy, Avis Walker, Mabel Bowman, Earlene Eaton, Wilma Steed, and brothers, Charles A. Burge and Joseph A. Burge.
Memorial service at graveside will be held 1:00 PM, Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC, 29307, conducted by Rev. Sal Barone.
