Jean Eastep Cooksey, 86, of Spartanburg, SC, died Friday, February 24, 2017, at her home. Born June 28, 1930, in Altoona, PA, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Hannah Eastep and widow of Jesse Lecel "Jess" Cooksey. A graduate of West Chester College, Mrs. Cooksey worked as a Physical Therapist from 1953 until retirement. She was a past President of the Spartanburg County Republican Women. As a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church, she was the director of the nursery and Children's ministry for many years. She was also a member of the Pauline Medford Circle. As a U. S. Army veteran, Mrs. Cooksey served as 1st Lieutenant. Jean lived a full life, as a loving, selfless wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother that taught love, compassion, and self-sufficiency. Survivors include her children, Edwin L. Cooksey of Spartanburg, Ann C. Rambow (Robert) of Lilburn, GA, Jesse D. Cooksey (Ashley Correll) of Spartanburg, and Julia M. Shown of Florence; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Along with her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by two brothers. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM Sunday, February 26, 2017, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday, February 27, 2017, at Trinity United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Neal Y. Woods, the Rev. A. Mickey Fisher, and the Rev. John L. Warren, Jr. Burial, with military honors, will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Family members will serve as pallbearers. The Paul Morris Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Escort. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 626 Norwood Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
