J. B. Pope

J. B. Pope, 90, of Spartanburg, SC died Sunday, December 19, 2021 at Eden Terrace. Born April 28, 1931 in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Julius W. and Rena L. Branch Pope and the husband of the late Myrtis E. Pettit Pope.

A US Army Korean War Conflict veteran, Mr. Pope graduated from Cowpens High School and Robinson Business College. He was retired from Monsanto and MEMC.

J. B. was a member of Roebuck Baptist Church, Brean Sunday School Class and was active with the Senior Adults. A lifetime member of the Converse Masonic Lodge #343, a member of The Eastern Star, Ora Chapter 153 and The Morgan Lodge, Knights of Pythians.

Survivors include his daughters, Teresa Mogianesi (Louie) of St. Port Richie, FL, Wanda Taylor of Pauline, SC, Melody Gage (Robert) of Seneca, SC and Carole Gowan (Tony) of Roebuck, SC, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild. He is also predeceased by his siblings, Charles W. Pope, Gertrude Donald, Christine Reid, Ralph Pope.

Visitation will be 1:00 – 1:50 PM Monday, December 27, 2021 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM at the chapel, conducted by The Rev. Dr. Tim Williams. Burial with Military Rites will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Roebuck Baptist Church, P.O. Box 490, Roebuck, SC 29376.

The family will be at their respective homes.
