Jay Bailey

Michael Jay Bailey, 53, of Spartanburg, SC, died Friday, December 23, 2016. Born October 25, 1963, in Spartanburg SC, he was the son of James E. "Ed" and Barbara Jeffries Bailey of Spartanburg, SC. A loving son and good person with a big heart, Jay was a hard worker and a friend to all. He was a member of Valley Falls First Baptist Church, a graduate of Boiling Springs High School, and received several degrees from Spartanburg Technical College. In addition to his parents, survivors include a son, Layne Bailey of Chesnee, SC; brother, Mark E. Bailey of Spartanburg, SC; aunt, Sandra Mooney (Robert) of Cumming, GA; nephew, Lance Bailey (Laura) of Boiling Springs, SC; and numerous cousins. A cryptside service will be conducted at 4:00 PM Thursday, December 29, 2016, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Dr. Wayne Dickard. Visitation will follow at the cryptside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northbrook Baptist Church Building Fund, 1881 Boiling Springs Road, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
