Jasper Ridgeway Martin, 75, of Spartanburg, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, February 23, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born September 26, 1936, in Laurens, SC, he was the son of the late Jasper Ross and Katherine Ridgeway Martin. A graduate of Furman University, he was retired from the State of South Carolina after teaching school and working as a counselor with the SC Department of Vocational Rehabilitation. He was an active member at Crossroads Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School for many years and was a former deacon. He was very active in Woodmen of the World. He had served as the State President, National Representative, and nearly every position in the local lodges. He was also a member of the Masons and the Gideons. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Nancy Traynham Martin; two daughters, Sharon Martin and Karen Martin-Wilkins and her husband Ron Wilkins; a precious grandson, Ethan Wilkins; a sister, Jean Harrison and her husband Zeno; sister-in-law, Jo Ann Martin and her son, Bill Martin Jr. and his wife Pam, and their daughters, Carly and Maddie Jo; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Bill Martin. Visitation will be 1:00-2:30 PM Sunday, February 26, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, in the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Michael Bradley.
